As you can see, this old lady is not pulled up to the stop bar. This causes a whole lot of traffic to be held up because the light is not being tripped. Watch as we sit through our 5th cycle of the traffic light.
While on my way home one night I was going through a 55 MPH zone when a Botetourt County Sheriff decided to take advantage of his badge and break the law he is sworn to enforce. As you can see in the video I am doing Approxamately 55 MPH and the officer flies past me. I decided to speed up but careful to keep my distance to try to prove a point and capture it on video while in the process. At about the 1:35 mark in the video you will see speed limit signs on both sides of the road. This is the point where we entered a 45 MPH zone. As you can see however, we are still doing a speed of about 60 MPH. Clearly this officer is exceeding the speed limit. While he was stopped at the red light I quickly snapped a shot of his license plates (Which has been blurred for legal reasons here) so that I could report him to his local department. That picture is located right below the video.
Now I do understand that some may argue that this officer could have been responding to some kind of emergency but I have two reasons to believe that was not the case here. (1) Please read the VA code which is quoted below and (2) He stops at a red light and waits for it to turn green before proceeding through it,
§ 46.2-920. Certain vehicles exempt from regulations in certain situations; exceptions and additional requirements.
A. The driver of any emergency vehicle, when such vehicle is being used in the performance of public services, and when such vehicle is operated under emergency conditions, may, without subjecting himself to criminal prosecution:
B. The exemptions granted to emergency vehicles by subsection A of this section shall apply only when the operator of such vehicle displays a flashing, blinking, or alternating emergency light or lights as provided in §§ 46.2-1022 and 46.2-1023 and sounds a siren, exhaust whistle, or air horn designed to give automatically intermittent signals, as may be reasonably necessary, and, only when there is in force and effect for such vehicle either (i) standard motor vehicle liability insurance covering injury or death to any person in the sum of at least $100,000 because of bodily injury to or death of one person in any one accident and, subject to the limit for one person, to a limit of $300,000 because of bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in any one accident, and to a limit of $20,000 because of injury to or destruction of property of others in any one accident or (ii) a certificate of self-insurance issued pursuant to § 46.2-368. Such exemptions shall not, however, protect the operator of any such vehicle from criminal prosecution for conduct constituting reckless disregard of the safety of persons and property. Nothing in this section shall release the operator of any such vehicle from civil liability for failure to use reasonable care in such operation.
Now I just have two questions:
Do you see any lights or hear any sirens? and What would happen if I had passed him like he did me?
Your comments please!
While riding on a city bus one day the bus driver had to literally slam on the brakes to keep from hitting this idiot who decided at the last minute he needed to turn. No turn signal or anything he just comes across a lane of traffic and expects everyone to yield for him. What an idiot!
This dummy was doing donuts in the snow on a vacant parking lot when he took a turn too sharply and slid right into a curve that was hidden by snow. Lucky for him, the curve did not puncture his tire but just simply knocked it off the rim.
